Logistics

 |
Often, a mitigating factor for increased growth is a company's ability, via logistics,
across the supply chain to meet growing customer demands for services from their
supplier-partners. Supply chain capability must exist among a highly fragmented,
often world-wide, network of key trading partners. Orchestrating the logistical
activities across this network requires new collaborative processes and execution
in order to realize the full growth potential and competitive differentiation
service excellence can provide.
Maine Pointe recognizes the Supply-Chain Council's SCOR* Model as best practice
and have aligned our firm with it.
Logistics Management is that part of Supply Chain Management which plans, implements,
and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of
goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point
of consumption in order to meet customers' high expectations.
Logistics Management activities typically include:
- inbound and outbound transportation management

"We were experiencing a decline in profits and increased labor; I knew it was
time to get some outside help. Your team was very thorough. I have a renewed
sense the excitement in most of the employees' ability to achieve the perpetuation
of the $ 2.75M savings next year. I am very satisfied with the work that has
been performed."

- fleet management
- warehousing
- materials handling
- order fulfillment
- logistics network design
- inventory management
- supply/demand planning
- management of third party logistics services providers
To varying degrees, the logistics function also includes:
- Strategic Procurement
- production planning and scheduling
- packaging and assembly
- sales and customer service
Logistics is involved in all levels of planning and execution. Logistics Management
is an integrating function, which coordinates and optimizes all logistics activities,
as well as integrates logistics activities with other functions including marketing,
sales, manufacturing, finance and information technology.
Maine Pointe's focus is assisting clients to increase service levels to the customer
and back through the supply chain while dramatically lowering the cost at the
"pointe of execution."
