Maine Pointe strengthens Operational Due Diligence and Implementation offerings

(Boston, Mass. – Sept 15, 2016) Operational due diligence already plays a significant part in Private Equity Partners’ decision to invest, and will increase in importance in the next 2 years. A new survey from Maine Pointe asked Private Equity Managing Partners, Partners and Senior Executives in both Europe and the USA to share attitudes and trends in performing due diligence on their investments.

Key Findings:

  • Over 80% of respondents believe that the importance of Operational Due Diligence will increase in the next 2 years
  • While all respondents agreed that Operational Due Diligence plays an important or very important part in the overall decision to invest, only a third state that it is an absolute requirement
  • The depth of Operational Due Diligence varies greatly between companies and between investments
The release of the survey findings coincides with the launch of Maine Pointe’s enhanced Operational Due Diligence offering which provides a broader set of capabilities with enriched data analytics. These uncover and help accelerate the implementation of supply chain and operations-oriented value creation opportunities both pre and post-acquisition.

“Only a third of respondents state that Operational Due Diligence is an absolute requirement. This indicates that PE firms may be leaving operational improvement opportunities on the table,” said Dan Ginsberg, Vice President Private Equity. “Embedding a reliable approach to due diligence at the beginning of the investment lifecycle will ensure firms consistently identify supply chain savings and improvements, increase bidding competitiveness, and reduce acquisition risks,” he added.

“With over 80% of Private Equity firms foreseeing that Operational Due Diligence will increase in importance over the next two years, we have enhanced Maine Pointe’s comprehensive set of due diligence offerings and implementation services to help PE firms improve confidence, competitiveness and time-to-value creation,” said Jorg van der Zanden, Managing Director Europe. “From analysis to implementation, our proven process enables PE firms to quantify EBITDA improvement and delivers a roadmap to accelerate savings for the first 180 days and beyond,” he added.
